Finals…Yikes!

Well this is the last week of classes before finals and since I am a freshman I am nervous for my finals. I have started studying for most of them, but I need to write a paper and do my portfolio. I am very happy that this semester is coming to an end and I cannot wait til Christmas!

Is it better to deal directly with counterarguments, or to ignore them? Why?

I think that it is annoying, but necessary to deal with the counterarguments. There will be a counterargument to almost any solution that you think of, so this makes finding the true solution very hard. There is always a disagreement to a new solution.

I put the counter arguments in my essay, so that it is clear which solutions will work and which ones won’t work.

What steps must be taken in order to find a solution for Tom to catch Jerry?

I must give an outline of the problem to the audience in order for them to understand the situation.
Tom must learn how Jerry thinks. This way he can develop an idea that will not be counteracted by Jerry’s thinking.
Tom has tried so many different solutions to try to get Jerry to stop ruining his life, so the solution is going to have to be original and new.
I need to work through situations and think of the possible counterarguments and state those in my paper
I need to state my final solution and say why and how it works over all of the other ones.

Troubles With the Cartoon Solution.

I have been working hard on our Cartoon Solution paper for the past two days and I have been struggling a bit with it. I don’t know how I am going to get three to five pages out of this topic. There are only so many different ways that Tom can catch Jerry. I think that I am going to have to be more clever than I originally thought in order to write this paper.

Drafting Heuristic of “Tom and Jerry”

The objective is for Tom (the cat) to catch Jerry (the mouse). The mouse is always able to outwit the cat.

What might be a daring solution?

A daring solution for the cat to get the mouse is for the cat to eat the mouse, but that may be devastating to the audience

What might be a solution acceptable to everyone?

An acceptable solution for the cat to catch the mouse is for the cat to stop up all of the holes in the wall except for one so that the mouse just has one to get in and out of then once the mouse goes into the hole, Tom can trap the mouse into the house and he will never be able to get out.

Cartoon Solution.

We have just been introduced to our new paper– It is to find a solution for a cartoon character. I don’t know about this paper, I have never been to be into cartoons, but this could be fun. I think that I want to talk about Charlie Brown and him being able to outwit Lucy, or I could find a solution as to how Eeyore could keep his tale on. This is going to be hard to get 3 to 5 pages out of.

Finished Public Opinion.

At first I was having a hard time writing my public opinion, so I stepped back from my paper for about 3 days and then went back and read over it. When I read over my paper I knew just what to do. The paper was too specific, so I made my topic more broad and reorganized the essay. All of the ideas just came flowing out of me once I organized my paper. I am happy with my end result!

Thanksgiving Break.

I loved being home over thanksgiving break. It was so much fun being with my family and having all of the good food and fun. Thanksgiving is all about family and being together. My break was definitely successful in that.

What values do your audience possess?

My audience possesses many different values. My audience is a wide group of people who value many different things, but they all have one value in common and that is education. My audience values not only education, but also the integrity of the education. They want students to receive a wonderful education that will carry them through the rest of their lives.

What position does my reader have on this particular topic?

My reader is skeptical of the topic just like I am. They are trying to decide what to think of the issues that the school district has and how they are going to fix everything. The audience that i am writing to doesn’t trust the school district at this point, and they shouldn’t!

What common ground do we share?

We are both upset with the KCMSD and how they have gone about doing things. We both think that there needs to be drastic changes in order to turn around the school district. We both agree that the students in this school district aren’t getting the education that they need and deserve.

Study, Study, Study.

This week has been very stressful for me. First of all I have a big test on friday in my Political Science class that i have to get an “A” on so that I can keep my “A” in the class. Then I have a test in my Religion class that i also need an “A” on, I just don’t even know where to start for studying for that exam. Then i have a term paper due and a test the week after Thanksgiving. I am so ready for this semester to be over so that I can just relax for a month. After that month though….. study, study, study all over again.
